Cosmos and Kochia in Autumn Colour at Michinoku Lakeside Park — Autumn Festa 2026 and the Dinosaur Park
Autumn is deepening, and the hills of Tohoku are slowly taking on colour. At Michinoku Lakeside Park (Kokuei Michinoku Mori no Kohan Koen) in Kawasaki Town, Autumn Festa 2026 runs until Sunday, October 25. The flower fields of the South Area are filled with about 1.2 million cosmos, including yellow cosmos, and the kochia is expected to turn red from around mid-October. With the Zao mountains in the background, it is a lovely autumn walk for the whole family.
In the park's "Ikoi no Mori" woods, the Dinosaur Park is also open until Sunday, November 29 (1,000 yen; park admission and parking are separate). Expect plenty of excited shouts from the children. Park admission is 450 yen for adults, and free for children of junior high school age and under, so it is an easy day out for the whole family.
Take a slow morning at MARUKI Saifuku, spend the afternoon in the autumn park, then come back to the old house in the evening to relax. If you are staying with us, we hope you will pay it a visit.
*On Sunday, October 18, use of the entire North Area will be restricted. Please check the notice on the official website (Japanese) before you go.
